Understanding Saving a Presentation

Saving a presentation stores your work as a file on your computer so you can open it again later. When you save a presentation for the first time, PowerPoint asks you to choose a location and enter a file name.

Using Save As allows you to decide where the presentation will be stored, making it easier to find and organize your files.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Select the File tab.

  2. Choose Save As.

  3. Select a location on your computer.

  4. Enter a file name.

  5. Click Save.

Why This Is Useful

Saving your presentation protects your work and allows you to continue editing it later. Giving your presentation a clear file name and saving it in an appropriate folder also makes it easier to find in the future.
