What is a Double Click?


Definition

A double-click is two rapid presses of a mouse button on the same on-screen item. Both presses occur in quick succession and act on the object currently under the mouse pointer. In many desktop operating systems, this action is the standard method used to open files, folders, or applications.

Characteristics

  • Consists of two rapid clicks in the same location

  • Acts on the item currently under the mouse pointer
